Meet the Staff:
Director of Performance: Nick Friedrichsen, M.Ed., USAW SPC, IMPACT,CPR/AED
Bio: Nick started his first weight lifting program with his father in the basement of their home using plastic sand weights and a bar in 1991 while in the 7th grade. He then attended Omaha Central High School where he was a 4 sport athlete, which included a Boys 18&U Volleyball team. Nick also was a member of the varsity football(Defensive Captain & Spirit Award Recipient), basketball, and baseball teams for the Eagles until graduating in 1996. Nick has been working in strength and conditioning in one way or another for 15 years in addition to his full time job as a high school Skilled and Technical Sciences Instructor. He started training in college at University of Nebraska-Lincoln with Joe Hurley, formerly of Husker Power. After graduating with a B.S. in Education, he began teaching and coaching at Millard West HS here in Omaha. While at Millard West, Nick was the director of performance for Volleyball (2003-2008), Girl's Basketball (2004-2007), Softball (2004-2007), Men's Basketball (2004) and Wrestling (2008) where he designed and implemented in-season and off-season programs for the Wildcats while coaching several sports which included head volleyball coach for 3 seasons. He also served 3 seasons as a NSAA volleyball official while earning his Master's degree in Educational Administration from Concordia University Nebraska-Seward. In the private sector, Nick has been a competitive club volleyball coach for 16 years, starting with Sunset West & Premier VBC. While at Premier, he had the opportunity to coach championship teams at the 17&U and 18&U levels. During his time with Premier, Nick worked part time as a trainer with The Xplosive Edge for 2.5 years. Nick sat for his USAW SPC certification at Mid-America Nazarene University in Olathe, KS in 2009 under USA Olympic Weightlifting Judge, Tom Cross. Nick has had the privilege to work with and learn from some of the best strength coaches, physical therapists, coaches, and athletes in the country. There is no better teacher than experience to learn how to pass that along to someone who is new to training. "Being involved in teaching and coaching athletics for so many years, I have been fortunate to see both sides of the coin from a performance perspective. "
In his personal life, competition has always been a passion. To keep his competitive spirit healthy, Nick competed in bodybuilding in the Men's Physique category for 3 years, finishing in the top 5 in his division twice, last competing in 2013. Since then, he enjoys coaching his kids' sports teams when he can and studying martial arts to keep learning and improving strength and flexibility as age gets to us all eventually! Nick is excited to share his passion for training with all of our Banzai athletes and parents to maximize performance and reduce the risk of injury for our athletes and clients. Nick is married to Farah and they have 2 kids, Owen(11) and Kira Hofer (16), and their American Bulldog, Jack Burton.
Coach Farah Friedrichsen, MEd:
Farah loves fitness and leading a healthy lifestyle! She took her weightlifting seriously about 10 years ago joining weight training classes and focusing more on eating healthier. It was not until she decided to do her first fitness competition in 2015, that she learned how hard work and consistency in diet and exercise was something that she loved. She competed a second time in 2017, earned an IPE professional status in Master’s Bikini Body Building and today continues to workout 5-6 days a week! Farah has a love helping others in health and wellness and cannot wait to train our athletes at Banzai.
Let's get to work!
