Delaney Woodruff - 14 Head CoachDelaney’s love for volleyball started when she joined her first team in 6th grade. She continued playing throughout high school along with playing club volleyball for 4 years. This will be her 3rd season coaching but her 1st year coaching club volleyball and with Banzai. She enjoys being able to help players grow and learn on and off the court. Delaney also teaches Physical Education and coaches in Bellevue. When she is not busy teaching or coaching, Delaney likes to spend time outside being active or just enjoying the weather.

Doug Deman - 14 Co-Head CoachDoug started playing sand volleyball in college and continued to play throughout his years in the Navy. He fell back in love with the sport again when his daughter, Alex, started playing volleyball in middle school. He began coaching through the YMCA and Papillion Rec. Doug then started coaching club volleyball in 2015 and this will be his second season with Banzai. He likes coaching because he enjoys seeing the end result of players working as a coherent team, having fun, and helping players prepare for the next level. When he's not coaching, Doug enjoys camping, barefoot skiing, biking, and spending time with his family.

Alex Deman - 14 Co-Head CoachAlex is Papillion La Vista graduate who played volleyball throughout her middle and high school years, as well as club volleyball for five years. Her passion for coaching began when she was just a freshman in high school. Starting out at the YMCA and Papillion Rec, Alex enjoyed teaching younger girls the basics and love for the game. After three years, she began coaching club volleyball where she's worked with athletes ages 12-15. Her favorite thing about coaching is not just teaching the skills of the game, but focusing also on the accountability and attitude that make a great all-around player. This is her fifth year coaching club and second season with Banzai. When she is not coaching volleyball, Alex is a senior at UNO studying child and adolescent psychology and plans to become a child/school counselor in the future.

Ron Spencer - 16 Head CoachRon starting playing competitive sand volleyball in high school and played throughout college. In his early 20s he moved his play indoors. In 2014 Ron got into coaching and was the head coach at Omaha Christian Academy’s middle school team. During this time he also started coaching club teams. In 2018, he took his coaching skills to the high school level where he currently is the head JV coach and assistant Varsity coach at Omaha Christian Academy. In addition, he continues coaching club and this is his second year at Banzai. Ron is a certified Level One setting coach and loves to work with this position. He continues his volleyball education through attending seminars including The Art of Coaching Volleyball as well at Gold Medal Squared clinics. Ron’s favorite thing about coaching is watching a player grow in a sport they love. When Ron is not coaching he is running his business Prime Time Healthcare and spends time at his lake house with his family.

Brittany Speckhals - 17 Head Coach/ 16 Asst CoachBrittany’s love for volleyball started at a very young age. Rec ball to Club ball by age 9. In the summer of 03’, her club team went to the USA Jr National Championship tournament and WON! She attended Bellevue West High School where she continued to grow, receiving a gold State medal. After graduating, she began coaching at Omaha Bryan High for two years. Brittany is currently the JV coach at Omaha Mercy High School. In 2008 she started her club coaching career with 12U gradually moving on up to 17U. Her favorite age group is 15U, where it starts getting super competitive. This will be Brittany’s 3rd year as a head coach here at Banzai. She has a strong passion for teaching young athletes’ volleyball and life skills. We are thrilled to have her as our Director of Player Development, overseeing all position training and private lessons. Brittany is currently working on her degree in Sign Language Interpreting. When not busy working she loves spending time with her son, Julius, doing anything outdoors.

Colleen Hernandez - 17 Assistant Coach/ 16 Asst. CoachColleen was born and raised in Omaha and went to Mercy High School where she played volleyball and basketball for four years. Colleen is a perfect example that hard work and dedication pays off. Her freshman year at Mercy she made the Freshman B team...fast forward to her senior year she was a starter on the varsity team and out of all of her teammates she was the only one who went on to play competitive college volleyball. Colleen played Middle Blocker at Peru State College but her college playing days were cut short due to a back injury. Her love for the game didn't stop, she went to coach YMCA for seven years and then joined forces with her cousin Brittany at Nebraska Impact for 2 years and was also at Performance VBC for 3 years. When she is not busy at work or volleyball, Colleen loves spending time with her daughter who is just as actively involved in sports as she is. We are excited to have Colleen join the Banzai family for her second season.
